Questions to ask your shortlisted Wastewater Management System Suppliers

Does the system use proven technology with long-term reliable data to back-up claims?

You don't want to be the "guinea-pig" for an experimental technology. There are tens of thousands of Innoflow systems using the Orenco technology installed throughout New Zealand and the world. The packed bed reactor technology used in the AdvanTex® has decades of proven history in the field. The principles that the technology is based on are simple and well understood. The success of the designs is the result of an ongoing thorough research program. Don't believe a salesperson's hollow claims - ask for evidence!

Does the system perform well under varying conditions like high flow when you do lots of washes or no flow when you go on holiday?

Innoflow has a system that will meet even the most stringent performance requirements. The AdvanTex® textile filter is recognised as being one of the most stable and consistent water treatment methods even under widely varying flows and climatic extremes. Ask for performance data as evidence of claims.

Are there reference sites with similar systems that have been operating for some time?

It is important that the technology is proven in the field over a significant number of years. Ask for reliable evidence and owners to talk to. The AdvanTex® system is based on the packed bed reactor process which has been the basis for reliable treatment for several decades.

Does the system come with reasonable product warranties?

Quality products generally have a longer warranty periods offering peace of mind. The Orenco products used in the AdvanTex®, including the pumps and control panel, have a full 3-year warranty.

What accountability is there for the installation?

It doesn't matter how good the design or how reliable the equipment, if a system is not installed to a high standard then it is likely to under perform or soon require repairs. To ensure quality workmanship Innoflow has a network of authorised installers that are trained specifically in installation techniques.

Will the system alert you before anything critical occurs?

If there is a system fault or it is overloaded the system should automatically alert you before the situation becomes critical such as disposal field failure. AdvanTex® systems are fully protected and alarmed with high-level, low-level and redundant-off switches. The VeriComm® telemetry option provides extra safety and diagnostics for further peace of mind. The service company is paged on an alarm, and they can manage the system over the Internet.

Are the lifetime and maintenance costs reasonable?

The annual servicing requirement of the AdvanTex® can represent a substantial savings compared to the quarterly servicing requirements of most aerobic treatment units (at say $200 per visit). It is better value to invest in high quality long life equipment. For example it is false economy to save a few hundred dollars buying a cheap pump that may only last 2-3 years rather than the Orenco pump with 25+ year lifespan. Lifetime cost comparisons are available.

Will the system be smelly?

The Innoflow AdvanTex® treatment plant has no bad odours. We have several systems in schools and public areas where people have lunch on decks above the treatment plant!

How noisy is the system?

There is no audible noise. Unlike aerated package plants, the AdvanTex® has no noisy aerators. The pumps cannot be heard at all because they are underground in a tank!

Can the system be out of sight?

The entire AdvanTex® system is buried. All that can be seen is small green lids (or brown if you are placing bark around the plant).

How long has the company been in business?

It is important to be dealing with a company that has long term commitments to the industry. Orenco has been manufacturing leading wastewater systems since the 1980's and Innoflow has been managing wastewater in Australasia since the early 1990's.
